Supervising Producer, Japan (Japanese) – CNE


Conde Nast Entertainment is seeking a Supervising Producer (Japanese) to join our dynamic, fast-paced creative team. In this role the Supervising Producer will oversee our branded and editorial production teams while working closely with many stakeholders, including: VP, Production Operations (Japanese); Head of Programming and Development, Japan; Programming and Development teams, in addition to external vendors on all local market video productions.
The Supervising Producer has a strong history of creating and executing high quality digital videos, has an extensive knowledge of production best practices and always delivers with remarkable results.
This role reports to the VP, Production Operations (Japanese).

Primary Responsibilities

• You are the main point of contact and team leader for the production department. This individual is responsible for coaching and mentoring employees and maintaining intuitive knowledge of their team. They are a channel from top to bottom between VP, Production Operations to junior staff.

• This individual supervises the entire production process from treatment to final delivery.

• Primary responsibilities include people management, assigning and managing projects as well as creative management. The person in this position is expected to lead by example, supporting the team by taking on the execution of individual projects as well.

• Can direct and produce shoots as needed. Will provide a calm, knowledgeable voice on complex shoots.

• This role works closely with the Head of Programming and Development, Japan, creative development leads and the producers/directors to ensure creative visions are realized.

• Responsible for adhering to playbooks for their respective series. This individual ensures all the qualifications of each series are achieved.

• Always has an eye on the larger goals of each video and how they impact KPIs.

• Review rough cuts with HOP/Development, before final internal and external reviews. Ensure all production teams are meeting requirements, expectations and implementing feedback. You are the conduit between HOP/Development teams and the production team.

• Work with the commercial team to ensure creative briefs are being met, under budget. Develop and implement rate cards, general production schedules and anything that may improve and streamline the production process between departments.

• Decision maker, goals setter, and oversee the success of a production team. Works closely with the VP, Production Operations to review goals and expectations, and that team assignments are being met efficiently and successfully.

• Always hits deadlines, leads by example, a model CNE employee for all to emulate.

• Responsible for communicating department information, ensuring efficiencies and best practices are in place. Able to implement corrective changes when inefficiencies are found.

• Strong experience in concepting video formats, researching talent/themes, and writing interview questions.

• Thorough knowledge of the creative, production and delivery processes.

• Participate in brainstorms and creative sessions.

• This individual must be able to execute with confidence in the field and in-studio, seamlessly, often relying solely on written treatments. Can take a creative treatment and bring it to life with great success, or instill that in the production team.

• Collaborate with Talent Bookers to keep them aware of remaining programming slots, budgets available and any talent related needs.

• Strong experience working with talent. This individual must be able to create relaxed on-set environments that allow talent, crews, staff, to be comfortable and confident. Able to ensure everyone is relaxed, inspired and prepared in order to execute successful shoots.

• Collaborate with production peers in other CNE markets. When managing international shoots, work closely with local teams to execute shoots in the most cost effective way, using all of CNE’s global resources.

• Evaluate employee performance and professional development goals.

• Oversees Post Production team, works collaboratively and closely to ensure thorough reports and feedback are provided to production and development teams.

• Supervising, and being accountable for, all aspects of CNE Japan’s editorial and branded and production standards, as well as contractual and deliverables requirements for programming that the production team manage.

• In close collaboration with the Production Manager, build and track budgets to ensure shoots are achieved under budget. Build estimates for new developments, with a keen sense of how money can be saved and shoots can be structured more efficiently. Manage overall budgets to ensure fiscal years are not over budget.

• Effectively stimulates career growth and development in subordinates.

• Work collaboratively and communicate clearly with various cross functional colleagues.

Primary Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Advanced proficiency in English

• A minimum of 5 years experience producing and developing digital videos on multiple platforms.

• Strong display of leadership skills for the production team.

• A demonstrated track record in creative execution.

• Works well under pressure and with managing large teams.
